Welcome! The Samuel Zell and Robert Lurie Real Estate Center was so named in recognition of its permanent endowment by Samuel Zell in 1998. The Center was established in 1983 by the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania to promote excellence in real estate education and research.
Students were invited to attend the Eric and Beth Schlager Lecture Series on Real Estate Entrepreneurship on Wednesday, November 20, 2013. This event was hosted by the Zell/Lurie Real Estate Center at The Wharton School. The speaker was Keith Gelb, Founding Managing Member of Rockpoint Group LLC, a leading real estate private equity firm. Mr. Gelb discussed how his firm responded to the financial crisis, the lessons learned for real estate private equity firms in general, and his take on the property and capital markets today.

Land prices in China have been rising very rapidly; the growth has been as high as 16% per annum over eight years. This has been caused by both demand and supply factors. While it's not realistic for this rate to continue, don't expect a sharp decline either, says Wharton real estate professor Joseph Gyourko.
Gyourko, along with colleagues at the National University of Singapore and Tsinghua University in China, has been studying the China housing market for some time now. It is not easy because data is difficult to come by, but the team has put together an index of housing land prices in China and is now planning a second phase to the research, Gyourko tells Knowledge@Wharton.
