In Memoriam: Herbert Z. Gold
We regret to inform our members that longtime supporter and scholarship funder
Herbert Z. Gold has died at 96. Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Gold
graduated in 1936 from the Wharton School and from NYU Law School in
1940. He later joined his father's business building homes and apartment
buildings in Rockville Centre and Hewlett Harbor.
As a partner of Stackler, Frank and Gold he was redeveloper for the
Urban Renewal Program for the Village of Rockville Centre, N.Y., and
other projects on Long Island. His legacy of learning and commitment to
service included being a generous benefactor to
countless organizations and individuals, with a particular passion for
education. He funded many scholarships including, in 1992, the Herbert
Z. Gold Scholarship for undergraduate real estate students at Penn. We
extend our condolences to his associates and
his family.
