"Currently," writes John W. Randall, MBA 2000, "I am a vice president at a Lehman Brothers-sponsored private equity fund that makes mezzanine debt and other high-yield real estate investments. It's an interesting time in the market, given the liquidity crunch and economic slowdown, as it is creating new opportunities but in a backdrop of uncertainties regarding real estate credit. I also continue to be involved in helping organizing informal real estate gatherings with Wharton Real Estate Club alumni in New York. Examples include a mixer during the MBA Real Estate Trek in January and a function for Summer Associates in New York in August. A group of us are seeking to re-establish the New York Wharton Real Estate Institutional Network (WIREN) here in New York and under the guise of the Wharton Club of New York. WIREN will be a more active and regular forum for networking, speakers and socializing for those interested and involved in institutional real estate.
